The Pisaq Magical Lagoons trek takes us to a unique experience in the surroundings of the community of Paru Paru, in the heights of Pisaq (4100 m). 2 days walking through 3 lagoons full of stories and mysteries that our locals delight us.  ¡A perfect itinerary for those who want to live an adventure enjoying a natural and magical environment!

    1
    Day 1
    Cusco – Pisaq – Paru Paru - Pumacocha (almuerzo) - Yanq'e Wayq'o (campmento) (Distance 13 kms. Time 4 – 5 hrs approximately)
    A private vehicle will pick you up at your hotel and after your breakfast, with a professional guide we will leave city, heading east of Cusco. After a 1 hour trip we will arrive to the colonial village of Pisaq at the foot of the Archaeological Park* which is one of the most beautiful monumental centers of the valley because it combines the landscape with the impeccable finish of its constructions. We will continue for about 40 minutes along a dirt road to the starting point of the hike in the community of Paru Paru.
    Upon arrival a local counselor in charge, will welcome us. Uphill along a path with no major difficulty to Laguna Azul Cocha 4100 m. in an Andean landscape where you can breathe fresh air and much tranquility as its name indicates a deep blue Andean lagoon, awaits us.
    We will contour it and continue climbing towards Puma Cocha 4325 m. when we arrive locals will wait for us with a  typical lunch with local products, to give us energies that will comfort us and give warmth. Our guide will take advantage of the moment and explain the name of the lagoon, and the importance of “The Puma” in the magical Andean world. After lunch we will climb to the pass of Vizcachani 4450 m. where we will enjoy a view of the sacred mountains and if the visibility is good to the south we will appreciate the Apu tutelar of Cusco "The Ausangate".
    In the company of the locals we will make a small offering to the mountain and a small time of meeting space with nature.
    After our mystical and natural experience, we will start our descent towards our camp in Yanq`e Wayq`o 4000 m. quiet area, where we will have the possibility to cross some animals like alpacas and llamas native to the region. We’ll settle into our tents and have a moment’s rest. Later our "local counselor" becomes "chef" and prepares us a delicious and hot dinner, to spend the night well, at the foot of the stars.

    Day 2
    Yanq`e Wayq`o – Kinsacocha –Pisaq - Cusco (Distance 4 kms. Tiempo 1h30 - 2 hrs. Aprox.)
    Early after a splendid night and a great breakfast, we will continue walking. This time with a walled road going up and down towards Kinsacocha 4000 m, lagoon of a great size and source of life for the communities of this area, where they can fish and use the water for their crops. Upon arrival our local friends and our counselor will say goodbye thanking us for our visit, wishing us a good return and that our experience has been great.
    Our vehicle, will be waiting to take us to the city of Cusco, passing once again by the Archaeological Park of Pisaq*.
    Return to Cusco by private transport (about 4 hours). Walking time: 4h-5h Initial height of the hike: 3950masl Maximum altitude: 4000 masl (camp) Altitude difference: + 50m 
    Note: The recommended period for this trek is from April to October (dry season). Good physical condition is required, but no technical difficulty. In case you want to visit the archaeological park of Pisaq, we can coordinate it, for the first or second day, where it would vary a little the timetable of the itinerary, but respecting the places of visits. The BTG (Cusco Tourist Ticket) required for the view is not included.

    FEET
    • A pair of walking boots or traction shoes.
    • Pairs of stockings for walking above the ankle (synthetic or thick wool stockings that warm even if wet).

    • Short-sleeved shirts (for sunny days)
    • T-shirts or long-sleeved shirts
    • Jacket or sack or the like (fleece) - (Warm jacket)
    • Underwear (enough for program days.)
    • A waterproof wind and rain jacket (check that it is 100% waterproof).
    LEGS
    • Maximum 2 light pants, recommended synthetic pants or quick drying materials.
    • Trousers (for cold- firstskin).
    • 1 pair of walking sticks very important for the descents. If you do not own it you can rent it.
    SLEEPING EQUIPMENT
    • Sleeping bag for cold weather (-10°C). If you do not own it you can rent it.
    • Clothing for sleeping.
    HEAD
    • Sun cap (hat).
    • Lenses for sun protection.
    • Buff or breathable choker.
    SAFETY AND SECURITY
    • Sunscreen (SPF 50 min) and lip protector.
    • Front flashlight (with spare batteries).
    • Canteen or bottle of water (minimum of one liter capacity). The use of disposable plastic bottles in protected natural sites is prohibited. You can buy them with Pukupuku Travel.
    • Replacement surgical or social masks. (Preferably reusable).
    GENERALS
    • Backpack or Backpack (Day Bag) expedition of between 0 and 50 liters with waist adjustment.
    • Plastic bags for waterproofing equipment.
    • Personal cleaning products (avoid shampoos and creams in large jars.)
    • Quick drying towel.
    • Sunglasses with UV filter
    • Extra cash with a maximum amount of S/500 soles, for personal expenses and/or gratuities.
